The Man Who Knew Infinity: A Life of the Genius RamanujanThe Man Who Knew Infinity: A Life of the Genius Ramanujan by Robert Kanigel
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Well it was a scintillatingly written biography of a Mathematical genius named “Ramanujan” from Madras,South India .
Book is divided into various chapters and covers journey from his birth to death & then to current time with his fame & popularity skyrocketing.
In initial chapters of the book his child life is narrated , that how conditions were in his home, how his love for mathematics grew, his marriage & later on him being dropped out of the college.
In subsequent chapters his struggle to get job & his mathematical talent being not realized is told.
Then ultimately his life and fate overturned in a second when prominent English Mathematician G.H Hardy realized his talent & he went to Cambridge London.
& the rest is his journey of becoming great & at the same time his health being being getting worsen each day by day.
Book is written is chronological order & deep emphasis is laid on the relationship between Hardy & Ramanujan.
The good thing about this book is that mathematical principles/concepts which Ramanujan discovered are illustrated so finely that even someone not acquainted with mathematics will understand them.
Author has directly & some times allusively criticized Indian education system for failing to recognize talent of Ramanujan & many others like him who don’t even get a chance to nurture & manifest their talents.
I will say it a worth reading biography by Science writer Robert Kanigel.
